Job Description:

The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists and ensuring the efficient operation of the pharmacy. This role involves a combination of administrative tasks and direct patient care responsibilities. Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service to patients. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
  2. Receive and interpret prescription orders, enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system, and ensure accuracy of patient information.
  3. Count, measure, and package medications according to prescription orders, including labeling and organizing prescriptions for dispensing.
  4. Manage inventory by restocking medications, monitoring expiration dates, and conducting regular inventory audits.
  5. Process insurance claims and assist patients with insurance-related inquiries, including prior authorizations and medication coverage.
  6. Provide excellent customer service to patients, answering questions about medications, dosage instructions, and potential side effects.
  7. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate prescription fulfillment and patient care.
  8. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper storage and handling of medications and supplies.
  9. Adhere to all pharmacy policies and procedures, including safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  10. Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to stay updated on pharmacy practices and regulations.

Qualifications:

– High school diploma or equivalent.

– Previous experience working as a pharmacy technician is advantageous.

– Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medications, and drug classifications.

– Strong attention to detail and accuracy in prescription processing and medication preparation.

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

– Proficiency in computer skills and experience with pharmacy management software.

– Understanding of insurance billing processes and familiarity with pharmacy benefit plans.
